  7. BRU is a UNIX backup and file transfer utility with significant enhancements
  8. over other utilities.  BRU offers full or incremental backup with quick and
  9. easy restoration of files.  BRU features the following:  Data Verification via
  10. checksum computation on all archive blocks, BRU verifies that the files are
  11. readable and correct.  Error Detection and Recovery from soft or hard I/O
  12. errors, as well as from corrupted archives.  BRU restores the root filesystem,
  13. including device files and other special files.  Data Compression reduces
  14. media usage.  With the increased speed on most systems, BRU can use double
  15. buffering to improve performance.  On all systems, BRU allows the user to set
  16. the I/O buffer size with no internal maximum.  Multivolume archives are
  17. achieved with BRU;  archives can span more than a single piece of removable
  18. media.  Unattended Backups enable BRU to run unattended overnight.  File
  19. inclusion/exclusion allows for selective backups.  BRU is also able to back up
  20. files across a network.
